Unlike solid gold jewelry, gold-filled jewelry is composed of a solid layer of gold that is bonded to a base of another metal, such as sterling silver or copper. Gold plating is a layer of gold applied to a base metal. It is recommended to keep it dry and away from skincare products. Remove to shower, don’t wear swimming, and avoid coming into daily contact with lotion, perfumes, and creams.
